Themes covered during the 2020 mindfulness retreat
During the week there will be teachings and practises on mindfulness and compassion with Suryacitta and Dr Zahida Adam. It is suitable for those with some experience of meditation and mindfulness and also appropriate for any health professionals who wish to attend.
The retreat will be based on Suryacitta’s first book “Happiness and How it Happens – Finding contentment through mindfulness”.
Themes for the retreat include:

- Compassion meditation
- Stirring the porridge – waking up to each moment of your life
- Worry – and how to stop it
- The slow Burner – how we transform
- Being in relationship to ourselves
- Living in the Present
There will be ample opportunity for question and answers and time for discussion. Walking meditation will also be taught and there will be opportunity to practice it in the beautiful forest surrounding Casa Rosa.
You wll also be able to practice mindful swimming in the gorgeous pool.
There will also be other (optional) activities taught on the retreat such as Voice Dialogue and Focusing.
About the mindfulness instructors
Suryacitta is one of the founders and principal teachers of Mindfulness, and both an author and radio presenter on the practice. He runs retreats and courses in the UK, Europe and Australia, and has written two books on the topic: Happiness and How It Happens: Finding Contentment through Mindfulness (published in 2011), and Mindfulness & Compassion: Embracing Life with Loving-Kindness (published in October 2015).
Beginning his Mindfulness meditation back in 1989, Suryacitta was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order in 1999, and subsequently spent five years living in a meditation retreat centre, leaving in 2005. Having trained in Mindfulness-based stress reduction, he completed the Mindfulness in Schools Project at Bangor University.
Requirements for entry
Our Mindfulness Retreats are suitable for complete beginners and those who wish to deepen their practice of mindfulness.
A typical mindfulness retreat day
Particiants will arrive on Saturday from 3pm, before enjoying a welcome talk, aperitivo and dinner by the pool at 6pm.
Every day on the Casa Rosa Mindfulness Retreat will thereafter begin with a 30 minute guided meditation before a banquet style breakfast.
After a mid morning workshop, the group can take a break, before further meditation and discussion until lunch.
After lunch participants are free to enjoy the surroundings – a walk in the countryside or a dip in the pool, followed by meditation and teaching. Some days there will be the opportunity for a trip into the medieval town of Assisi – until late evening.
Mindfulness sample itinerary
3.00 – Arrival at Casa Rosa.
6.00 – Welcome talk, aperitivo and dinner by the pool.
Sunday to Friday
7.15 – Rise.
Followed by Meditation, breakfast, free time and teaching
1.00 – Lunch.
Followed by free time, teaching and meditation (walking meditation, mindful swimming and eating)
7.00 – Dinner.
Followed by evening activity
(Some evenings are free for visits to Assisi or other nearby towns)
What is included in the 2020 mindfulness retreat?
This package includes accommodation, transfers to and from Assisi, all food and drink and all mindfulness teaching.
There will be access at all times to the private pool with beautiful views over the valleys, as well as numerous walks though the woods which are part of the national park of Mount Subasio.
